Safety in Diving

At Diveworks International (DWI), diving safety is our highest priority. As a leading commercial diving contractor in the UK, we implement strict safety procedures, advanced medical support, and compliance systems to protect our divers on every project.

Pre-Dive Safety Drills and Emergency Preparedness

Before starting any new project, or when site conditions change, our team carries out a full unconscious diver recovery drill. This essential exercise ensures that all personnel understand their responsibilities during an emergency.
As a result, we:

  • Maintain fast and effective emergency response capability
Ensure clear communication across the dive team
    Strengthen overall diver safety procedures

In line with industry regulations, we always provide a minimum of two independent methods of diver recovery on every site.

Advanced Medical Support and First Aid Capability

DWI equips every project with two DMAC-compliant first aid kits, ensuring the highest standard of medical treatment is immediately available.
Our teams include:

  • A minimum of two first aid trained personnel on all inshore diving operations
  • At least one Diving Medical Technician (DMT) on inshore projects where possible
  • A minimum of two DMTs on offshore diving projects

Our DMTs are highly qualified diver medics who:

  • Provide immediate casualty care
  • Lead regular safety training during project downtime
  • Reinforce best practice in commercial diving safety

24/7 Diving Doctor Support (Offshore Operations)

For offshore work, DWI provides 24/7 access to a qualified diving doctor, in full compliance with IMCA regulations.
This ensures:

  • Immediate expert medical advice during emergencies
  • Authorisation for DMAC-approved prescription medication
  • Capability to perform life-saving invasive procedures when required

This level of support allows our teams to operate safely in remote and high-risk offshore environments.

Planned Maintenance and Equipment Safety (NAMS System)

DWI operates a robust planned maintenance system using NAMS, fully compliant with IMCA and DNV standards.
This system ensures:

  • All equipment meets offshore diving safety standards
  • No expired or non-compliant equipment is deployed
  • Full maintenance traceability across all assets

As a result, both inshore and offshore projects benefit from the highest level of equipment safety and reliability.

Diving System Audits and Compliance Services

In addition to project delivery, DWI also provides diving safety audits and compliance support services across the industry.
Our services include:

  • Auditing of diving systems and equipment to verify compliance with IMCA, DNV, and industry standards
  • Review of diving paperwork and documentation, including RAMS, dive plans, and maintenance records
  • Identification of compliance gaps and improvement actions
  • Support with audit preparation and regulatory inspections

By offering independent auditing services, DWI helps clients ensure their operations meet the highest levels of diving contractor safety standards, while reducing operational risk.

Why Safety in Diving Matters to DWI

Our commitment to diving safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence underpins every service we provide. Through structured training, expert medical support, planned maintenance, and compliance auditing, DWI continues to set the benchmark for a trusted diving contractor in the UK and offshore sector.
